Homogeneous catalysts are precious metal compounds/salts which are usually associated with organic ligands. These homogeneous catalysts offer a great advantage for chemical reaction in terms of mild reaction parameters with high activity, and selectivity such as chemoselectivity, regioselectivity, steroselectivity, enantioselectivity and recyclability. In contrast to a heterogeneous catalyst, a homogeneous catalyst and reactant are in the same phase during the entire duration of reaction, thus eliminating pore diffusion limitation on an industrial scale.
